One of the most used parts of a laptop will be your charging socket. This is from plugging your charger in when the laptop runs out of battery. Over time these can get damaged from general wear and tear or the odd time where you may accidentally trip over the charger or accidentally tug on it a little too hard, not realising it is snagged on something or still plugged in. This might cause the charging port to become loose inside, or it may physically damage the internals of the charging port like the one pictured (The middle plastic that holds the pins together has come loose exposing the pins). We would advise you to be very cautious if this has happened because if you continue to use the charger with exposed pins and the pins touch each other it can short out and physically kill the laptop leading to either having to replace a possible costly main board, or the entire laptop altogether.
Some examples of damaged charging ports may be; having to wiggle the charger to get it to charge, a physically wobbly or pushed in charging port or the laptop just doesn’t charge at all.
